Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC)

What is Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC)?

PCC is a very white and very fine powder produced from lime by chemical precipitation method and used as functional mineral filler in many sectors. It has been commercially invented 1841 by John E. Sturge Ltd. Precipitated Calcium Carbonate is been made from Ground Calcium Carbonate GCC. Calcined Ground Calcium Carbonate separates it in forming lime (CaO) and carbon dioxide gas (CO2). Water is added to give calcium hydroxide then carbon dioxide is passed through this solution to precipitate the desired calcium carbonate.

Structural formulas: CaCO3
